With some pupils saying that they found spellings tricky, I recently did a spelling assessment with the class.
Each child has taken home a list of the spellings they found tricky. It would be great if pupils could practise/ learn them when they have some free time. Try making it fun, e.g. writing each work in bubble letters or using felt tips with alternate colours. Another idea is finding the letters in a newspaper/ magazine and cutting them out to make up each word.
After practising them, if I notice a pupil is consistently spelling one/ all of their words correctly, I will give them an updated list with new spellings. I am sure this will provide a big confidence boost to those pupils.
